The Grey District Council was presented with a new Sunshine Coach by Lorraine Taylor, chief executive of Variety New Zealand – The Children’s Charity in November 2011 to replace the old Sunshine Coach, which had clocked up close to 300,000 km. The new van will be available for use 365 days of the year for local children’s and youth groups to transport them to sporting, community and social activities.
Variety used part of the funds raised from the Variety Pike River appeal to buy the new bus. The presentation coincided with Variety Queensland’s four-wheel-drive visit to Greymouth, which also contributed towards the new coach.
The Sunshine Coach is available for use to authorised persons or bodies in the Grey District area. The coach is not available for commercial hire and will not be operating as a passenger service. The coach is available principally for the transport of youth groups up to the age of 17 years and is licensed to carry 12 passengers, including the driver.
Please see below>> for the full Conditions of Use.
The coach can be booked by contacting the Grey District Council. A $50 bond is payable to the Grey District Council which can be returned if wished. Council does not charge for the use of the van, however any donations are appreciated towards the ongoing cost of insurance, tyres, registration, and maintenance.
All details on the User Details form must be completed and returned to Council before the coach can be used. "Conditions of Use" forms can be collected from the Grey District Council front counter, or can be posted out to interested parties.
