KiwiRail is asking the community to take extra care when using both level and pedestrian crossings as trains resume on the Midland Line, Westcoast to Christchurch.
The message to the community is to ‘Always expect trains at any time and in either direction’.
The resumption of services is earlier than expected with more than 60 people a day from KiwiRail teams around New Zealand pulling together to reopen the line after a fire on Waitangi Weekend.
Trains will be running regularly from Monday 20th March with the world- renowned TranzAlpine service returning on Wednesday 22 March.
If you would like further information, please contact KiwiRail on firstname.lastname@example.org.
