Grey District Council's bank account details are loaded with most major banks or you can call our offices on 03 769 8600 for our bank account number if required.

Media release

Please feel free to read the recent media release about the go live of online consent processing for more information.

From 1 May 2016 Grey District Council customers will be able to apply for a Building Consent online, seven days a week, 24 hours a day.

Following the successful implementation of AlphaOne, a 2015 “Transforming Service” award winning system, Council is pleased to shortly be going live with this online service which enables builders, building agents and home builders to lodge a building consent from the comfort of their homes or offices.

Applying online will allow applicants to attach plans and specifications electronically, saving them both time and resources. Payment of the consent deposit can be made directly into Council’s bank account. Once the application is in the AlphaOne system, applicants can then track its progress and if further information is required, they will be contacted by Council via email. Approved consent documents will be distributed by email, although a printed copy will still be available for on-site.

The new system also allows a Code Compliance Certificate to be issued by email once a final inspection has been completed and approved, provided all required documentation, including any additional fees, have been received.

Council will be visiting businesses that submit large numbers of consents before AlphaOne goes live on 1 May and Council staff will provide training to assist access to and use of the system.

A small number of businesses with low volume Building Consents have been aiding Council prior to go live by trialling the system and submitting their consents online to ensure that the process is seamless.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Steven May, Environmental Services Manager, phone 03 769 8600 or email
