No Weedspray Option, adopted by Council 9 December 2002
Objective
To provide residents/property owners with the option of not having their road reserve sprayed for weeds and noxious plants.
Policy
That Council offers a “No Weedspray Option” to residents/property owners within the Grey District on the condition that the resident/property owners confirm in writing their agreement to maintain the street/road frontage/roadside channel/footpath adjacent to their residence/property in a tidy condition free of weeds and noxious plants (at no cost to Council).
Should any resident/property owners fail to comply with Council’s requirements then they will be sent a reminder notice, with continued no-compliance resulting in Council removing the resident/property owner from the register and arranging for weedspraying to be undertaken as in other areas of the District.
Procedure
Residents/property owners will be required to register by 1 September each year with Council for continued inclusion on the "No Weedspray Option" register.
This policy only applies to local roads maintained by the Grey District Council and State Highway areas covered by the Transit/Grey District Council Corridor Agreement (generally those areas where Council has a
footpath on the State Highways).
