Long Term Plan 2024/2034 - Pre Engagement
The pre-engagement feedback period closed on the 18 June 2023. Thank you very much to all those who took part, the feedback submitted was insightful and we really appreciated you all taking the time to send us your thoughts. The feedback will now be collated and presented to Council for consideration.
We're preparing for the next Long Term Plan (LTP). This plan will cover the next ten years from 2024 to 2034. It's a little way off, but time goes fast, so we need to start thinking now about what we want to achieve for the Grey District over this period.
What is the Long Term Plan?
The Long Term Plan (LTP) sets out everything we intend to deliver over the next ten years, including the services and activities that we will provide, the projects we will carry out and the level of service the community can expect.
The plan also includes how much we expect things to cost, how we'll pay for them and what this means for rates and debt. When developing the Plan, Council strives to balance community well-being with what is affordable for our District.
Council completes a Long Term Plan every three years, in accordance with the Local Government Act 2002. An Annual Plan is prepared for the years in between.
The last LTP that Council developed was for 2021-2031. Therefore, Council will consider the work that was planned for the remaining seven years in the 2021-2031 Plan and assess whether it is still the right work to deliver for 2024-2034. There have been changes in the last three years, so it is important to assess whether the priorities for the Long Term Plan are still valid or whether they need to change.
You can read the Long Term Plan 2021-2031 here.
Once the Draft Long Term Plan 2024-2034 has been prepared, there will be a formal consultation period so everyone has an opportunity to provide feedback. This will happen around April next year. The Long Term Plan will become operational on 1 July 2024 once it has been adopted by Council.
We value your input
The Long Term Plan affects everyone in the Grey District. Before developing the Draft Long Term Plan for 2024-2034, we want to hear from you about what is important to you and what things contribute to your wellbeing while living in the Grey District. We want to get a feel for what is most important to the community as a whole.
The findings from this pre-engagement period will help Council to develop a Draft Long Term Plan for 2024-2034 that reflects the needs and aspirations of the community.
You may have given us feedback on the LTP when you made a submission to the Annual Plan. We will be compiling this feedback, but if you would like to give us further feedback you are welcome to.
Help us shape the Draft Long Term Plan. Complete the form below by Sunday 18th June 2023 to let us know your thoughts.
This engagement is now closed.
