As a general guide, our present household waste is made of the following:
- Paper & Cardboard - 20%
- Plastic - 15%
- Organic - 35%
- Glass - 11%
- Textile - 12%
- Metal - 7%
You can decrease the amount of waste going into the landfill by separating your rubbish and recycling and dumping them accordingly.
McLeans Pit is split into two parts:
Landfill | For general refuse, which goes over the weighbridge and is charged accordingly.
|
Recycling centre | Open to the public to receive approved empty and clean recyclables. There is a materials recovery facility (MRF) on-site which sorts the recyclables.
