Greymouth Parking Strategy Review

Issued 1 June 2018

What is being proposed?

Following public consultation last year, Grey District Council adopted the Greymouth Parking Strategy in August 2017. Public input received since then indicates there is a need for a further review of the Strategy, with the submitters indicating that they have missed the previous consultation. Staff deem at least some of the belated inputs to have merit.

A copy of the current Greymouth Parking Strategy can be downloaded below.

Why is this being proposed?

Council acknowledges that parking in the Greymouth CBD is an important matter and would like to ensure that the Strategy provides for as many needs and aspirations as possible. Council deems it a significant matter and it intends using the Special Consultative Procedure for public consultation.

It is noted that Council accepts that there may well be submissions that will make the Strategy better and invites all persons with an interest in the matter to assist in achieving this outcome. Notifying the 2017 version of the Strategy merely serves to facilitate the submission process.

What are the options?

With Council accepting that not all submitters took part in the 2017 review, it sees another review as necessary.

  • Based on inputs received, it is apparent that a further review will make the Strategy even better.
  • It follows so close on the previous review.
  • A review costs approximately $1,000.
