Council issues "Stationary Vehicle Offence Infringement Notices" under Section 139 of the Land Transport Act 1998.
Parking tickets must be paid within 28 days of issue of the infringement. If your ticket is not paid within the 28 days we will send you a reminder. If you still do not pay within the time stated on the reminder, it will be handed over to the Fines and Collections Unit of the Department for Courts. Once your ticket is lodged with the Court, your ticket will also incur court costs and it will have to be paid through the Court's system.
Payment for parking fines can be made in the following ways:
- CASH, EFTPOS, CREDIT CARD or CHEQUE - You can pay in person at Council offices, 105 Tainui Street, Greymouth or at Runanga Service Centre, Carroll Street, Runanga.
- CHEQUE - You can mail a cheque along with the notice to Grey District Council, PO Box 382, Greymouth 7840.
- INTERNET BANKING - Internet banking details, including the required reference details, are on the bottom of your ticket.
- ON-LINE CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS - note that a surcharge applies to these payments. You can pay on-line here.
If you wish to dispute a ticket which has been issued, you will need to put this in writing using the following form.

Hint: Every time you move, make sure you update your address with the NZTA. If your reminder notice or ticket goes to your old address, you may forget about it and it may end up being referred to the Courts.
