Contestable fund renamed, streamlined
Contestable Fund streamlined
The Grey District Council’s Contestable Fund is being streamlined.
It has been open annually since 2021 and has seen a huge increase in applications.
Last year, 36 groups applied for funding totalling over $170,000. However, there is just $25,000 a year available.
The fund is now primarily for volunteer-run groups which are undertaking projects or events in Grey District spaces and places.
It will be renamed the Community-Led Vibrancy Fund, with specific aligned priorities and criteria that match council functions, vision, outcomes and strategic priorities.
Group manager community Penny Kirk, said: “This is an exciting opportunity for council to continue supporting the grassroots volunteer groups who work to make us a thriving, connected, and resilient Grey District.”
Councillors agreed to the changes at their meeting yesterday (Monday).
Applications open on August 1, and close on August 31.
August is a bumper month for funding applications, with the Sport, and Creative Communities funds, also opening via council.
The updated criteria for the Community-Led Vibrancy Fund will be put on our website shortly.
