The Grey District is on the West Coast of the South Island. It stretches from the south banks of the Punakaiki River in the north, SE to Mt Anderson, N to The Pinacle SE to Craigeburn in a SE direction to Mt Barron, SW to Jacksons and following the Taramakau River to the Tasman Sea. The area of the Grey District is 3,513 square kilometres.
The Grey District is the Heart of the West Coast and is rich in history and character. Key industries are health care and social assistance, retail, construction, education, manufacturing and services industries.
