Free digital help at Grey District Library
Got a new smartphone or tablet that’s driving you crazy? Unsure how to use that app everyone’s talking about? Curious about artificial intelligence but don’t know where to start?
Good news – free help is at the Grey District Library. For the next 12 weeks, a friendly Digi-Coach will be on hand to solve your digital headaches.
Look out for the bright blue vest and Digi-Coach flag between 10am and 2pm, Monday to Friday. (Times might be subject to change – call or check the library’s Facebook page for up-to-date information).
What’s on offer?
- One-on-one help with phones, tablets, apps, email, and online services/forms
- Assistance with CVs, cover letters, and job applications
- Drop-in support – no appointment needed
“We’re thrilled to be a part of the Digi-Coach initiative,” said Anthony Hunter, Library Supervisor. “Our team routinely assists members of the public with all sorts of digital and device issues and having a dedicated coach will increase the amount of help we can provide to the community.”
This initiative is part of a work experience programme for jobseekers, backed by the Ministry of Social Development and delivered by the Digital Inclusion Alliance Aotearoa in partnership with local libraries and community groups.
“Employers looking for tech-savvy staff should definitely come and meet these Digi-Coaches,” said Laurence Zwimpfer from the Digital Inclusion Alliance.
“Bring them your digital challenges – you might be so impressed they become your next hire! Our goal is for every Digi-Coach to find job opportunities during their 12-week placement.”
