Wet voting papers

The Grey District Council is receiving queries from people whose voting papers became wet during delivery.

Some have reported that their reply envelopes are stuck shut after getting wet.

Deputy Electoral Officer Catriona Bayliss said that as long as the voting paper has been filled out correctly, the vote will still count.

“If the envelope is damaged and can’t be used, a replacement envelope can be provided – we can supply one, or you may use any blank envelope. However, you must ensure it is addressed correctly.”

If your voting papers are damaged, please contact elections@greydc.govt.nz.

Some people have not received their voting papers. If they have not arrived in the mail by Tuesday, September 23, please call into the Council offices on Tainui Street, or contact elections@greydc.govt.nz.

You can also meet the Deputy Electoral Officer when the Roving Rav is touring the district with the voting bin. She will be able to assist people who have not received their voting papers.
