A magical Christmas musical is coming to Greymouth this month, thanks to a huge community effort.
SuperBrain ProductioNZ is bringing Elf Jr. The Musical! to the Regent Theatre from November 19–22.
Join Buddy the Elf on a joyful, toe-tapping journey from the North Pole to New York City in this magical junior production of Elf the Musical Jr. — brought to life by the talented young performers of SuperBrain Trust Jr.!
🎭 Directed by Helen Willis, who’s been part of SuperBrain since 2017, this marks her debut as director. Known affectionately as “Hellbells” by the crew, she describes the experience as a “baptism of fire” — but one fueled by passion, teamwork, and the incredible energy of the cast.
Helen says this show wouldn’t have been possible without the dynamic duo of Jamie Mosher and Cary Lancaster, whose leadership, creativity, and support have helped bring the production to life. Alongside them is a dedicated team of volunteers, including the talented costume and set design crew, who’ve worked tirelessly behind the scenes to create a world bursting with colour, sparkle, and Christmas magic.
Based on the beloved holiday film, Elf Jr. tells the story of Buddy, a human raised by elves, who sets out to find his birth father and remind the world of the true meaning of Christmas. With catchy songs, hilarious characters, and a whole lot of festive cheer, this family-friendly show is the perfect way to kick off the holiday season.
✨ Featuring 40 incredible local children aged 5–20, this production showcases the West Coast’s next generation of performers. Supported by the experienced team at SuperBrain Charitable Trust, it’s more than just a junior show — it’s a celebration of community, creativity, and the magic that happens when young people take the stage.
💫 Accessibility is also at the heart of this year’s production. This season will include Touch Tours for the blind, held an hour before each show. For the 2pm and 7pm performances on Saturday 22 November, surtitles and audio description will be available, ensuring everyone can experience the magic of Elf Jr.
