Mayor for a Day winner selected
We received 63 entries for our Year 7 and 8 Mayor for a Day contest – and some wonderful, insightful, and imaginative, suggestions.
The winner has been notified and will be revealed on September 29, when they report for duty.
Many entries shared their love for Greymouth’s beaches and parks, the pool and the new library. They also revealed what they would do if they were Mayor for a Day.
A number were concerned about rubbish, and the cost of food, petrol and hygiene products. Suggestions have been sent to staff.
Mayor Tania Gibson thanked all the young people who took the time to enter the Mayor for a Day competition.
“I thoroughly enjoyed reading your comments and seeing the thought, creativity, and care that went into your entries.
“It was especially encouraging to read so many positive reflections on life in the Grey District. Your comments highlighted just how much you value our beaches, parks, community spaces, and the many activities and opportunities available here. It is clear that the Grey District is a place you are proud to call home, and that was wonderful to see.”
The comments being shared in the post are the ones which made us smile.
