AgFest 2026: The West Coast's Biggest Agricultural Event Returns
GREYMOUTH, 7 October 2026 – AgFest 2026 is set to take over Greymouth on Friday 16 and Saturday 17 October, bringing together the very best of West Coast agriculture, lifestyle and community spirit.
As the largest agricultural trade show on the West Coast, AgFest attracts thousands of visitors from across the Top of the South, Canterbury and the West Coast region for two days of agricultural machinery, cutting-edge agri-tech, lifestyle products, demonstrations, food vendors and family entertainment. With business confidence and activity on the Coast continuing to grow, organisers are anticipating one of the biggest events yet.
AgriKids: Young Farmers in the Making
One of the standout features of AgFest 2026 is the AgriKids Competition, designed for primary school-aged children.
Think Young Farmers, but for kids.
This year, 60 children across 20 teams are registered to compete, making it one of the most exciting additions to the AgFest programme. Through hands-on challenges and practical learning experiences, AgriKids gives the next generation a genuine taste of life in agriculture while competing for fantastic prizes.
The Mullet Competition: Searching for the Coast's Greatest
Do you have the most glorious mullet on the West Coast?
AgFest 2026 is on the hunt for the region's finest mullet, with competition categories for:
- Under 12 Years
- Under 18 Years
- Adults (18+)
Competitors can register online or simply turn up at the Party Warehouse Village Green on Saturday 17 October. Judging begins at 12.30pm.
Great prizes are up for grabs, but more importantly, local legend status is on the line.
The Iconic Creative Gumboot Competition
A beloved AgFest tradition since the event began in 2012, the Creative Gumboot Competition continues to showcase the incredible creativity of West Coasters.
Over the years, entries have ranged from artistic masterpieces to downright ingenious creations, proving there is no limit to what can be achieved with a gumboot and a bit of imagination.
Entrants are encouraged to grab a gumboot and get creative. Prizes will be awarded across multiple age groups.
Entry forms can be downloaded online or completed and submitted at the AgFest i-SITE. Entries must be delivered between Monday 12 October and 9.30am on Friday 16 October.
Tug of War: Back a Good Cause
AgFest will also host a Charity Tug of War on Saturday afternoon in support of the Bone Marrow Cancer Trust and Rānui House.
Teams of five are invited to compete, while raising funds to help support West Coast families who need to stay at Rānui House while receiving vital medical treatment away from home.
Adding to the excitement, a Live Charity Auction will be held throughout the afternoon between Tug of War rounds, featuring a range of fantastic items and experiences up for grabs.
