Financial support to help cover separating storm & greywater.

Financial support options may be available to help cover the cost of separating stormwater and greywater connections.

We are currently engaging with local banks to understand what loan products and financial assistance may be available to affected ratepayers. At this stage, information received from Westpac is outlined below.

As further information becomes available, additional options will be added to this page. Residents are also encouraged to speak directly with their preferred banking provider to discuss what financial products or support options may be suitable for their individual circumstances.

Westpac

Westpac New Zealand is offering homeowners in the Grey District financial support to help cover the cost of separating storm and greywater.

If you already have a Westpac Choices Home Loan:

  • Loan balance over $150,000: You may be eligible for up to $50,000 interest-free with Westpac’s Greater Choices loan. Approval is subject to Westpac’s usual lending criteria.
  • Loan balance under $150,000: You may still be able to access funding through one of the following options:
  1. Use any available buffer in your current home loan.
  2. Apply to increase your home loan limit.
  3. Apply for a personal loan at Westpac’s standard interest rate (see Westpac's current Personal Loan rates here).

If you don’t have a home loan with Westpac, you can still apply for support by:

  • Moving your home loan to Westpac to qualify for the Greater Choices interest-free offer (loan balance must be over $150,000).
  • If your home loan is less than $150,000, you can apply for a higher loan limit when switching to cover the cost of the work.
  • If neither of the above options suit, you can apply for a personal loan at Westpac’s standard interest rate (see Westpac's current Personal Loan rates here).
