Closed: Saturday 28 February 2026

Funding available for Round One & Round Two: $10,791.40 + GST

$6,180 was awarded to 2025/2026 Round One in October 25, See here for details

The remaining $4,611.40 is allocated for 2025/2026 Round Two.

Decisions will be made: 18 March 2026

About the fund

GDC administers this fund on behalf of Sport NZ to help reduce travel barriers for rural sports clubs and school teams. The fund provides subsidies for players aged 5 to 18 years to assist with transport expenses for local sporting competitions within our district.

Criteria

Sport NZ’s Rural Travel Fund (RTF) supports young people to take part in regular sporting competition.

School club teams and sports club teams are defined as:

A school club team participating in regular local sports competitions outside school time that excludes interschool and intraschool competitions played during school time.
A sports club team participating in, regular sports competitions through club membership outside of school time.

The fund is not available to:

School or club teams located outside the Grey District
Individual players, coaches, or officials
