Public Places Bylaw Enforcement
The Grey District Council can issue a 28-day compliance notice regarding rubbish, stored materials, and unregistered or unwarranted vehicles placed on the road reserve adjoining a property. Road reserve is public land and must remain safe, tidy, and unobstructed at all times.
Under the Grey District Council Public Places Bylaw, it is prohibited to:
- Leave litter or materials in a public place that may create a nuisance.
- Deposit or allow materials or objects to be placed on a public place or road.
- Obstruct any public place by leaving materials or objects.
- Park or leave vehicles on public places unless expressly permitted.
Occupants are required to:
- Remove all rubbish and stored materials from the road reserve.
- Remove any unregistered, unwarranted, or abandoned vehicles.
- Restore the area to a clean and unobstructed state.
Failure to comply may result in enforcement action and recovery of associated costs.
