Greymouth Courthouse Demolition
The Grey District Council (GDC) has received a resource consent application from the Ministry of Justice to demolish a heritage building at 8 Guinness Street, Greymouth.

The proposal is to demolish the Greymouth Courthouse building, which is located at 8 Guinness Street, Greymouth. The Greymouth Courthouse is on the Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga List as a Category 1 Heritage Building. The building is a listed heritage building in the Operative Grey District Plan, and the proposed Te Tai o Poutini Plan.
The proposal requires resource consent as a discretionary activity under Rule 26.1(iv) of the Operative Grey District Plan and EW-R7 (Earthworks) of the proposed Te Tai o Poutini Plan (pTTPP), and a non-complying activity under Rule HH-R10 (Heritage) of the pTTPP. A resource consent is also required under Regulation 11 of the National Environmental Standard for Assessing and Managing Contaminants in Soil to Protect Human Health.
